Meet Johanna, Our Business Development Manager

Hear from our new Business Development Manager, on her approach, experience and vision for the road ahead.

Johanna brings over 22 years of experience to the Eyekiller team.

We’re excited to welcome Johanna McGuigan to Eyekiller as our new Business Development Manager,  a role that sits at the heart of our continued growth and client partnerships.

With over 22 years of experience driving digital success for agencies and clients alike, Johanna brings a strategic yet personable approach to connecting organisations with digital solutions that deliver measurable impact. From uncovering new opportunities for Eyekiller in a broad range of sectors to solidifying our relationships with our current partners, she’ll play a key role in expanding Eyekiller’s reach across the UK, Ireland and further afield.

We caught up with Johanna to hear more about her background, her approach to business development, and what she’s most looking forward to in this new chapter.

1. What drew you to the Business Development Manager role at Eyekiller?

Two things: firstly, Eyekiller has a great reputation within the industry so I was immediately drawn by the prospect of working with Eyekiller and its talented team of professionals.

Secondly, I love working in business development, helping companies grow and expand into new sectors, but it takes a senior team who are willing to step outside of their comfort zone. From my first meeting I knew that the Eyekiller team is ready to do that which makes the role so exciting.

2. How has working across such varied sectors influenced the way you build client relationships?

I have been privileged enough to work with a wide variety of clients and, from them, I have uncovered insights into how to and how not to work with clients. You learn something new with each client and I always carry these learnings forward.

No client is the same and I am committed to taking the time to really get to know my clients and to continue to be interested in them. This discovery is vitally important and I believe that it is only by doing this can you build and maintain a long-standing partnership.

3. What’s your philosophy when it comes to connecting businesses with the right digital solutions?

My philosophy is putting the client first. And that means understanding your client fully, knowing their challenges and responding to their needs. That knowledge allows you to identify and tailor the right digital solution for them.

4. The role involves everything from market research to pitching creative solutions, what part of the process excites you most?

I love deep dives into research to uncover the little nuggets which bring the client to life, and I love writing the narrative which shapes the proposal and the pitch.

5. If you could describe your business development style as a fictional character, who would it be and why?

Great question! As a complete book worm, I would equate my BD style to the inimitable Jo March from Little Women. Jo is always learning, always seeking out new information and using that to propel her forward.

And she is also open to listening to those around her, and she is true to her values. But mostly Jo will stand up in a room and be counted. Having that confidence and presence is at the heart of business development. Likewise, I will always ensure we stay true to our values and having listened to the other experts in our team, I will ensure that our BD function is aligned to the functions of the business.

6. What do you think sets Eyekiller apart from other digital agencies?

Eyekiller takes a collaborative, client-focused approach to every project. Plus Eyekiller’s values are inherent in every project - and that is how we build long-term partnerships with our clients.

7. How do you see the digital landscape evolving for clients in 2026 and beyond?

We have found ourselves within an evolving landscape where AI and its implications dominate right now. As digital professionals and trusted advisors for our clients, we have a responsibility to guide them and help them retain their brand authenticity and individuality through human creativity and strategic thinking.

8. Outside of work, what keeps you inspired or helps you switch off?

To switch off, I read every day, and I listen to podcasts. I love crime and thriller novels, plus anything to do with ancient Rome or Greece. I am inspired each and every day by my family. My two children never fail to surprise me with some new fact or tidbit which makes me feel old! ?

9. Lastly, what’s one thing you’re most looking forward to achieving as part of the Eyekiller team?

Taking Eyekiller to new heights! Watch this space.
